Island project reflection

When first hearing about this project I was very excited. Imagine, making a whole island with its own rules, systems, politics you name it. It was almost creating a own little world. I had no idea were to start though, If you have to construct an civilization where would you start? Its hard I guess you could have dove right into it or just sit and ponder it, but luckily I had my group mates Charmaine and Maxx.  We each took different jobs in creating the little world, but we would render vows  about once a week just to make sure no one was going to far off track. I chose the to do the politics/govemnet. As I was studying it, I found that politics is its own old of its own. I couldn’t possible imagine how how many “little worlds” there are in each subject. My mind was defiantly blown of how much, it requires  to make a world! It is also crazy because its not a perfect world, for example if your people get water from a spring and suddenly it gets infected you have to find a way to deal with it. I can’t believe that with our society now that we have many answers to our problems

I wish I could have been there to help the project more, but sadly my medication was very disorganized so I couldn’t be in class much to talk with my group mates. I also missed the date it was due, by so i couldn’t have helped with the presenting part of it. I really wish I could have contributed more, but sadly I didn’t.

Overall I thought it was a great project! It I just wish I could have contributed more!

For My science I studied pandemics! For my presentation I was originally going to show a simulator similar to this one, but I couldn’t find it on the day of the presentation. I now know that even if you think you can look something up easy its good to play it safe and book mark it! Instead I improvised and used my classmates as test subjects. It went great and probably even better then the acutely simulator! Sadly I have no pictures or video but hopefully I will for my upcoming projects!

China reflection
In Humanoids we studied Acient China. At first I did not really enjoy this topic or not sure of what it was going to be come. I choosed to do government because I came in late due to my conference. Again, like my science project, I had one less week but I still mostly managed to use my time effectively.

I liked our group this time. We would come together everyone once and a awhile but most of it we did on our own. I think I work best on my own because I don’t have to check on people or rile on the other person. Other thing is working like this no one can really drag u down. so if your presenting and you partner did not do much, then it will show that he did nothing. Or vice-versa of course.

My topic was hard because nothing was really directly. When I looked up government there was nothing about Xia period it just said Chinese feudalism. I did not know what that meant, so I looked it up but nothing about Chinese feudalism came up. So I just looked up feudalism by its self and only medieval came up. So I did the best thing and just research medieval. Even though I am not sure that they even used something similar to medieval feudalism but I did the closest thing I could do.

Overall great project loved the group setup!
Triassic Reflection!
For our latest project we each had to pick a period to study, then present to our class. I chose the Triassic period because I wanted to be different and I never herd about the Triassic period before. I was worried that there was not enough information about the period but I was soon to find that it wasn’t that dry. Everyone seemed to get off to a great start but I had to work on my San Diego  Que presentation. I am not using this as an a excuse but I only started working on the project after the conference.I quickly got facts and started writing it all down. Later I organized my notes and felt good. I started film on Tuesday and it was due on Friday. When I filmed with my cat (Howard) I just filmed it and it did not look at it at all. Then next day I had to edit and when I was importing it and realized that it was too dark. So I had to re-film but this time I used Charmaine and Andrew to help!

I would say that my presentation was awful (I think). I found that I barely included anything about the actual subject and more focused on other things. I don’t want to beat my self up about it, but I really think I did a bad job on the presentation. I think that I got my love to much included with my work. Its like working at an office and dating someone there. You know its hard to mix the two because u love the person, but you also want to be professional. In the moment I thought that this was movie was so awesome. After watching it in class I thought the same thing. When I got home that I was planning to export my movie, as I was doing my last minute edits I realized It had no “good” factual information. Later I compared with my notes and realized that I had not put enough information that I wanted 2. I knew a lot about the topic but I think I should have put more straight forward things in it. Something I learned is that you need to give yourself some time to look over. My uncle had the same thing. He got so into his painting that he was completely oblivious to everything around him and ignored everything else. He took no breaks from the painting and kept working till it was done. Then later my cousin comes in and says, “Wow good gorilla dad”. Then my uncle he says quietly its not a gorilla. He told me that when you do big things that you should give some time to look at it when you in a different mind set. This is exactly what happened to me. Next time I would maybe have someone look it over and really take my time and not try to rush. Also maybe talk about it more instead of just having a video to also show I know more. I love movie making but sometimes its hard incorporate it into you education. I think for next time I should give my self an early deadline, take time to review and make sure I am happy with it!

Things I learned from other projects:

Things I learned From other projects

Sherif

- You can even use video games to show what you learned

-Even if you are doing the same project as someone else you don’t always have to work with them.

-Minecraft is an Epic tool!

- Its important to memorize things but numbers and important its ok to have on cards or not memorized.

Bri

-Simple card games work well

- Its good to accomidate the unexpected such as Tobin showing p

Andrew

- Sometimes a good old slide show works just fine

- Putting in enthusiasm/confidence can make a huge difference

Charmane

-Visuals are great to go along with a project because people function differently (with audio and visual or hands on stuff)

-Even If you do the same project as someone else you have to still have to cover what they already said

Maxx and Ruby

- If your in a group with more then one person its good to coordinate if you are both speaking.

"A long, narrow part or section forming the handle of a tool or club or the body of a spear or arrow."

"The male parent of an animal, esp. a stallion or bull kept for breeding."

"An object offered in this way, such as a candle used as a vigil light."

"Make or become spread out from a rolled or folded stat",

Religion Sumerian

For our latest humanities project we studied Sumerians. I worked with Maxx on Sumerian religion. I did more of the religion aspect, as Maxx did more of the gods. When starting my collection on the religion part I found it very dry. There was not that much information of the religion aspect, but more on the gods. I did not give up though, I skyped my uncle (who happened to major in religious art). He told me that I had to be carful on which sites I looked at because he said you will get a lot of “theories” on sumerian subjects. After I wrote up my paragraph on sumerian religion I went to help Maxx on the card game we were planing to show. I found that I quickly learned more on the gods than I did with the religion. When also researching the gods I practiced shorting and making pages into my own words, which I find is a very valuable skill. The presentation was great! I felt like I was short of dry on my introduction but that was most of what I could find. Maxx did a excellent job with the game. I did find that game went along a lot more than it was supposed to but I think everyone learned from it. Overall I learned more skills in life it feels than in Sumerian religion, but I think thats ok because everyone gets something different out of projects.
